February 18, 2026 Breakfast Meeting Notes

Our guest today was Deb from the Plymouth Congregational Church, which is looking to become our first corporate member.

Sharon won the 50/50.

Phil drew the 5 of spades the card game. Not many cards left as we search for the ace!

Rotary weekly highlights: Steve had surgery yesterday. The speech contest that was scheduled for today had to be postponed; the event will be rescheduled for March 4. Nancy Dyer has resigned from the club, citing other commitments. 

Today we are having a workshop on membership building. We were divided into two groups and given two questions and 5 minutes to come up with our own answers; then we worked on the questions as a group. The first question asked us to imagine that we were a guest of a rotary club for 3 meetings and then was invited to join…what factors would convince us to say yes? The second question asked us to list what club experiences and practices are irresistible to us, and what activities and situations would cause us to leave. 

After individual members had answered these questions, each group shared answers, and then the two groups compared notes. Service projects, fellowship opportunities were seen as big plusses; turnoffs were conflicts, disorganization in communication, time constraints and schedule, and major life events such as death or disability. Singing was not popular. Tony will distribute the responses to the club. 

Happy dollars were shared by Phil, Tony, Denise, and Mike. 

Phil reports that there is one opening remaining for the “learn to curl” classes at PSU. See Phil for details. 

Our new location for Plymouth’s recycling bin will be at the ReStore! Thanks to Frank and the ReStore for their support.
