Our August 28th Meeting - Forum
President Paul Brochu walks us through a series of announcements and the highlights from last week's Board Meeting. To view the meeting, please go to our Facebook Page.  (https://www.facebook.com/plymouthnhrotaryclub/videos/2874624322553093/)

Here are Paul's notes from the meeting:

  • Dawn Lemieux of NH Audubon is requesting assistance with moving canoes and kayaks from their Paradise Point waterfront location to the storage area.  Taking place Sunday, Sep 8th at 1100 am.  Sign up sheet sent around. (Mike…there were no sign ups)
  • For those who frequent Squam Lake, a loon was sighted last Thursday, Aug 22 in Shadbush Cove, west of Point Finisterre, with fishing line wrapped around its bill and wing.  Anyone seeing this loon should contact the Loon Preservation Committee (603-473-5666) as soon as possible so that they can try to rescue the loon.
  • Abigail “Abbey” Brann, new PSU student intern with our club will be making her first visit to our regular meeting next Wednesday, Sep 4th.  Please give her a nice welcome and introduce yourself.  She is a student of Lisa Doner, club member.
  • Paul will meet with Jess Dutille, PSU Director of Community Impact at 0900 Thursday the 29th to discuss possible collaboration and partnership between PSU Students and the Plymouth Rotary Club
  • Mike Carrier has taken great initiative and drafted a Plymouth Rotary Trifold brochure which Paul sent around for comment.  Mike has distributed this electronically to our members for further comment so that we may soon go to press with this to further the community’s knowledge about our club and Rotary in general
  • Items from our last Board meeting on Aug 15:
    • After much discussion, we determined that Christmas in July only netted about $1000 this year and that it was not very popular with membership.  Therefore, the Board voted to cease the Christmas in July and solicit ideas for a summer fundraiser to begin in 2020
    • Board approved $1000 for the Education Scholarship Fund of the Squam Lakes Natural Science Center to support children of local families who otherwise would not have the opportunity to attend the Blue Heron School, nature-based Montessori early learning center
    • Discussed our Interact group and mentioned that Taylor Maine is awaiting additional information from Plymouth Regional High School Administration regarding their progress to becoming an officially-recognized PRHS club as well as any funding that may be forthcoming from PRHS.  Further discussion focused on our club supporting the Interact group in their endeavors.

There will be a ribbon cutting ceremony and tour at the new Harbor Homes' Boulder Point housing facility for vets and their families on Friday, September 6th at 11 am.  Denise suggests that we carpool!
