Notes on our August 14th Meeting

Dr. Arnold Scheller (Col., USA, Ret.) and his wife, Sonia, were guests of Omer Ahern, Jr. this morning and they spoke about the work they and so many others in Wentworth are doing to develop a Veterans Memorial for their town.  To see their entire presentation, please go to our Facebook Page.  (https://www.facebook.com/plymouthnhrotaryclub/videos/347695782784297/)

President Paul also welcome our Past District Governor Larry Vars and his wife, Joan.

Here are additional minutes taken by our Club Secretary, Martha Hughes.

There was a unanimous vote to change the bi-laws regarding the monthly board meeting scheduled time. Rather than meeting on the 3rd Friday of the month, we will now have the flexibility to meet any day during the 3rd week of the month. Reminder that the board is meeting tomorrow, Thursday 8/15 @ 7am, at Noyes Insurance. Thank you, Bill, for letting us use your conference room.

Next Wednesday 8/21 is the annual summer BBQ at Ken’s lake house @ 6pm. If you would like to help cook, plan to arrive at 5:30pm. Bring your spouse, friends or potential Rotarians along with a dessert or salad and your beverage of choice. Hamburgers, hot dogs and corn will be provided.

Omer introduced the guest speakers for the morning; Dr. Arnie Scheller and his wife Sonia. They spoke about the Wentworth Veteran’s Memorial project that is currently underway to honor our veterans. The 32,000 pound head stone has been set.  Plans for the conflict stones and brass plaques, seating area, flag pole with solar lighting and walkway are soon to follow. Donations are being accepted to fund the “Family and Friends Path of Remembrance”.  Please visit the Wentworth Veteran’s Memorial Facebook page for more details.

Have a great week!!
