September 27, 2023 Breakfast Meeting Notes

We began with Tony’s Trivia:  “If you want to get there, you gotta swim” edition

Card game: Sharon drew the 5 of spades. The game continues.

50/50: Bill won the drawing and gave it to Tom

Business: The PR committee will meet by zoom next Monday at 1 pm with Courtney Jarecki, to discuss improvement to our website.

Penny Sale: Posters will be ready by Friday and tickets by next week. Assignments for ticket sales will go out next week’s meeting along with posters. Ken Evans will pull the large banners and put them up next week. He will be looking for volunteers to help with this.

Sharon spoke about the perforated sheets. Once you get the prizes, fill out the top and bottom of the form (leave the section for color and number blank; it will be filled in on setup night). DO NOT TEAR YOUR SHEET UNTIL SETUP NIGHT. TOP AND BOTTOM HALVES OF SHEET MUST MATCH.

Beth was hosting today’s speaker but the speaker is ill. So Beth and Mike did an exercise (a membership mapping activity) to try to identify potential new members.

Each member was asked to think of people or businesses that might have high or low interest and high or low knowledge about Rotary. The names were written on Post-It notes and posted on a large sheet of paper so that they can be followed up later.

Announcements:  Please do not get coffee from the hallway when the Common Man has set it up for another group; go down the hall to the cafe.

This Saturday is the NH Marathon, which goes around Newfound The event brings  over 500 runners to the area. The race begins and ends at Kelly Park in Bristol. There are 12 stations around the lake for local community organizations to provide water to the runners.

Happy Dollars: Denise, Sharon, Beth, Tony and Alex all had happy dollars to report. Alex noted that The Common Man for Ukraine was featured in an article in USA Today. Last week. Since then we got a donation for $30,000. The Union Leader had a photo of 33 kids who had lost parents in Ukraine. They have also pitched to the Clinton Foundation for $1 million in grant money.

Respectfully submitted,

Lora Miller, secretary
